Maps on the Internet distort size. Nothern countries look bigger than countries closer to the equator, which also distorts their relative importance. Maps are also much wider than they are tall which is hard to view on modern devices like tablets and smart phones.

Maximin Perspective is a website created by Dr. Steven Brown at the Ohio State University. It collects metrics on health, wealth, education, peace, justice, and the environment on a global scale. It preserves the actual shape and perspective of countries while making them easily readable on mobile platforms.
