Emerging applications such as automated payments, vehicle servicing, manufacturing quality control, drive-through commerce, and smart parking, require a more reliable, scalable, and cost-effective way to securely identify the correct vehicle in real time. The TechnologyOSU engineers have developed a novel system that enables secure vehicle-to-infrastructure interactions by matching unique vehicle motion signatures observed from two independent perspectives. A smartphone or onboard device transmits motion-related information associated with a specific vehicle, while infrastructure-mounted sensors independently observe vehicle movement. Intelligent matching algorithms correlate these signatures to accurately identify which vehicle is present in a particular lane or service location.
